Myla’s Story
Myla Beau Lock was a bright, loving little girl who brought joy to everyone around her. She had a gentle nature, a beautiful smile, and a strength far beyond her years. Myla loved simple moments – cuddles, stories, and being surrounded by the people who loved her most. Her courage continues to inspire all who hear her story.
In 2022, Myla’s family’s world changed forever when she was diagnosed with Wilms’ tumour, a rare childhood cancer that had spread to her lungs. No family ever expects to hear such news, and the journey that followed was one filled with uncertainty, hope, and incredible bravery.
Throughout her treatment, Myla showed remarkable resilience. Despite everything she faced, she remained full of warmth and determination. Her strength became a source of comfort to those around her, reminding everyone just how precious every moment truly is.
After a long and difficult journey, Myla sadly passed away in October 2024. The loss has left an unimaginable space in the lives of her family, friends, and all who knew her. While nothing can ever replace her, her memory continues to shine brightly and inspires the work we now do.
Myla’s story highlights the emotional and practical challenges families face when a child is receives a cancer diagnosis. Alongside the heartbreak, families often face unexpected financial pressures, time away from work, time away from other children and the need to focus entirely on caring for their child. No parent should have to navigate this journey alone.
Through sharing Myla’s story, we hope to raise awareness, provide support to families facing similar circumstances, and create a lasting legacy that reflects Myla’s kindness, courage, and spirit.
